It is official! The summer weather has arrived in Hobart. My trusty thermometer showed 25 degrees Celcius before I went to work yesterday morning. And it rose to 32 degrees miday, before it fell 10 degrees in 30 minutes and there was a horrible watery downpour in the late afternoon.
So it is true what they say down here when somone is looking forward to the next season.... here they say "Just wait 10 minutes, and you'll see another season!".
Temperatures are 5 degrees below average, so it may be warm for the Norwegian in me, but it will get warmer. Lush!
We are lucky down here to not have any of the flood plain problems they have in Queensland where areas as big as Germay and France are affected by the water.
In some places the water is 14 meters over normal levels!
The idea of paddling to your front door has always appealed to me, but this is a bit different! There are lots of snakes, rubbish and sewage around so it is definetly not a nice position to be in.
It is estimated that it will take weeks to months before the water has subcided, so I do not envy the queenlanders!
