Trip to Jamestown and Williamsburgh

A lady seeing practice at the same vet clinic as me offered to take me along sightseeing. It was a very nice day.
We went to Jamestown in Virginia which was the first English colony (1607) in the US.
They have replicas of 3 sail boats, a indian village and a fort.
In addition there were a few archiologists "digging" for old signs of the original fort.
A nice little wall decoration in Williamsburg.

Thomas Jefferson and I in Williamsburg.

A SCOTLAND shop in Williamsburg, Virginia, USA.
Stange to see all the tartans and hear bagpipes in the middle of the US!

The original Jamestown. The remains visible are replicas.
It would have been cool to see how it actually looked "way back when".

The "Archearium" in Jamestown.
1000 of things that have been found in the area are on display.
Part of the floor are glass to show the rest of the bricks left from the original building that stood at this place.

Nice detail on a monument in Jamestown.

Crosses marking unmarked graves in Jamestown on the bank of the river James.

Archeologists working next to the church in Jamestown.
They are working next to the foundation of a tablegrave (flat stone) which was moved to the site from a field in a neighbouring farm.
There are no remains left and the grave is a lot younger than the other graves in the area.

A picture from the rebuilt fort. The sails of the sailboat can be seen in the distance.

Jamestown have their own bottled water!

A totem from the "Indian village".
There were 7 more in a ring, the totems facing inwards.
