Week 3

My 3rd week in Hobart is now over. Last weekend had amazing weather (when I went to Salamanka Marked), but this week was horrible. The weather forecast had possibilities for snow down to sea level but thankfully it didn’t get that bad. But you could really see the snow on Mr. Wellington in the middle of the week.

When the weather gets a bit better I’m going to start walking back from work when I finish early, but at the moment I am very happy I can get a lift with Amy.

At the moment we are sitting looking at baby knitting patterns, she and her husband Dan is expecting a baby in February, so I thought I would try to knit them a little baby jumper as a thank you for taking me in and being such nice hosts. Hopefully it will look nice in the end J

Work was quite quiet this week, with 3 days finishing at 2pm. But I have been involved in some very interesting cases. A ketoacidotic dog which ended up being my first PTS (Put to sleep), a possible hyperthyroid cat and a possible renal failure case in a 17 year old Poodle. Any my pyometra dog came back for her stitches out, the wound has healed very well and the dog was very happy and active in the consult. My first success story!

The Boss has agreed for me to take 2 weeks off at Christmas, so I’ll be flying back to Europe on December 20th!! Hurra!

I will spend Christmas with my family in Norway, but will be stopping in Edinburgh for about 24 hours on the way, so if you’re around we should meet up!

My computer is now finally online. So writing this from standing at the kitchen counter. Skype is also working so had a nice chat with Fiona, Tina and Shiva + Lisa the other night. So strange thinking that everyone are on the other side of the world.

It is now about 24 hours later (was not able to finish this update yesterday). Went bush walking today, at Mount Field National park, about 2 hours north west of Hobart. It was a nice day and we even saw some wildlife, a Tasmanian Pademelon. This little animal looks like a wallaby (aka. A very small kangaroo). Some of them were quite used to humans it seemed, as they did not run away right away when they saw us. Will attach some pictures when I have gotten them from my walking buddy. The national park also has the famous Russel Falls (Norsk: foss), it has rained a lot in the last week, so there was lots of water.

On the highest point there was quite a lot of snow, and quite a few people with snowboards and skis. Terribly windy at the top, so we did not stay long.

My 4th working week starting tomorrow. Soo strange to think that I have almost been here for one month already!
